This full-house refurbishment in Belsize Park (designed by Hayatsu Architects) featured a series of architectural joinery elements that balanced tradition and craft with contemporary expression. In the loft, we fabricated a Douglas fir plywood staircase and sliding doors, along with a solid Douglas fir balustrade. These new elements were carefully integrated with the existing and refurbished exposed roof structure, creating a sympathetic dialogue.

On the ground floor, we produced traditional barred sliding doors in solid oak, complete with mitred mouldings, recessed handles, and textured glass panels. These details bring a sense of quiet formality to the interiors, reflecting Hayatsu’s considered approach to craft and context.
