One of our most technically demanding projects to date, this Pilates studio (designed by Studio Wolter Navarro) was crafted almost entirely from solid Douglas fir with a white-tinted varnish. At its heart is a Mexican-inspired celosía, composed of hundreds of precisely angled wooden pieces above terrazzo panels. The reception counter and cupboard were designed with continuous grain flowing seamlessly through mitred joints, which required meticulous planning, from selecting and allocating components in rough-sawn boards to careful machining and joinery.
Spanning large surfaces with solid wood added to the complexity, demanding careful material selection, extended seasoning times, and precise fabrication to control movement. The result is a space where craftsmanship, structure, and material integrity effortlessly come together.
