Old Match Factory

Set within a former match factory in East London, this apartment project (designed by EBBA Architects) leaned heavily into architectural joinery. We extended the existing mezzanine level, designing bespoke aluminium joist hangers to suit the structural and aesthetic requirements of the space.
A central feature is the six-metre-high staircase, crafted entirely in solid ash, along with its slender matching railings, both of which were engineered and installed to meet the demanding scale and precision of the design.
We also fabricated floor-to-ceiling pine shelving, emphasising the apartment’s dramatic double-height volume and bringing warmth and cohesion to the space. This was a rewarding project that combined technical problem-solving with material-led design.
